Copenhagen, Denmark
A beautiful city with a very large pedestrian center that has been expanding since the 1970's I believe. Tons of bike infrastructure and tons of bikes.
Is it rush hour?
Copenhagen uses blue lanes in intersections to make motorists more aware of cyclists. Portland, OR also adopted the blue lanes, although not for intersections. It is used when cars cross over a bike lane to make a turn, for instance. A study was conducted that found blue is most visible to motorists.
Huge bike lane. Notice it is buffered by parked cars and goes the opposite direction of the flow of car traffic.
This is a raised bike lane, the extra level provides more safety for the cyclist. This is how all roads should be built I think, each mode has its own place.
This street adds busses to further segregate the modes. The bus lane provides a quicker route when there is traffic.
That's me on a community bike. It is very heavy duty, partially funded by ads on the wheels. It even has a map of the city on the front. Bike stations are located throughout the city, you just put a coin in the slot and the lock is opened. When you return the bike, you get your coin back.
Stroget, the main pedestrian street in the center of the city.
